Quetta Gladiators solidified their assertion as genuine PSL X candidates with a decisive 30-run victory against Islamabad United in the initial qualifier, cementing a final appearance on May 25.
Deciding to bat first at Lahore’s Gaddafi Stadium, Quetta compiled a strong 209/6, courtesy a sizzling 95-run stand between Faheem Ashraf and Dinesh Chandimal off merely 48 balls. The late flourish added to Finn Allen’s gritty start, leaving Islamabad with a tough target to chase.
The response by Islamabad was labored early on, with Alex Hales lost in the second over. Despite being pegged back by Sahibzada Farhan, Rassie van der Dussen, and Salman Ali Agha’s fighting knocks, frequent wickets and increasing pressure undid their chase. They were bowled out for 179 in 19.4 overs.

Usman Tariq spearheaded Quetta’s bowling effort with 3/32, including important middle-over strikes, as Mohammad Amir (2/31) and Mohammad Wasim (2/38) offered important assistance.
This win is Quetta’s third in a row against Islamabad in PSL X, and they secure a direct entry to the final. Islamabad will, however, have another opportunity at redemption in Eliminator 2, as they take on the victor in the match between Karachi Kings and Lahore Qalandars.
The action continues tomorrow as David Warner’s Karachi Kings take on Shaheen Afridi’s Lahore Qalandars in a high-stakes battle for a place in the next eliminator.
