Bangladesh banknotes:
Bangladesh has unveiled a new series of banknotes, which for the first time after independence, does not include the portrait of the country’s founding father Sheikh Mujibur Rahman. Instead of political figures, the re -designed posture displays the rich cultural heritage and natural miracles of Bangladesh – including historical temples, iconic monuments, and breathtaking landscapes.
Sheikh Mujibur Rahman removed from currency
Central Bank, Bangladesh Bank said that update design emphasizes the country’s collective identity rather than individual leadership. This step aligns with a broad political change in Bangladesh. Recently, Sheikh Hasina’s government – the daughter of Sheikh Mujibur Rahman – was excluded from power, and her party, Awami League, has been banned, indicating a dramatic change in the country’s political scenario. Analysts suggest that the currency reidisine reflects this break from the past.
So far, three of the nine planned sects have been released, with the remaining set to follow in stages. Old notes will remain legal tender, ensure a smooth transition.
