Pakistan, Turkiye Commit to Raising Strategic Ties to ‘Higher Levels’

Istanbul, May 25, 2025 – Prime Minister Shahbaz Sharif and Turkish President Tayyip Erdoğan held an important meeting in Istanbul today, which confirms their commitment to deepen the historical bond between Pakistan and Turke.

The leaders discussed increasing cooperation in important areas including trade, defense, energy and technology, emphasizing the mutual benefits of a strong bilateral partnership. Prime Minister Shahbaz, especially thanks to President Erdoan for the strong support of Turkey during recent regional tensions, given that it strengthened permanent solidarity between the two nations.

The meeting also served as an opportunity to assess progress since the 7th high-level Strategic Cooperation Council, both sides discovered the new route to speed up the joint initiative and ensure the ongoing projects to be completed on time.

A major focus was on increasing bilateral trade to $ 5 billion annually, with the leaders that the economic plan, private sector engagement and extending mutual trust, would help achieve this goal.
